Cuttlefish cast silver and ruby ring This ring has been cast in cuttlefish. The small rubies were laid into the empty form and the molten silver was cast onto them. Rubies can stand the intense heat of this process. I find it incredible! The stones shift a little, so no two rings can ever be made the same. There are three stones cast into this ring. The raised silver on top of the ring is where the silver was cast into the ring form. Into this I have set a 4.5mm, half carat round ruby. I love it that this ring has stones both front and back. The texture of the cuttlefish gives the ring a really unique finish. The ring is US 8, UK Q and European 17 (57mm finger circumference). The ring is 3mm wide at the top going down to 5.5mm at the bottom and is 5mm thick. The ring comes packaged in a matt white environmentally friendly presentation box, ready to be given and received with love. All my metal is from a company which is a member of the Responsible Jewelry Council. They deal only in recycled silver and gold. They smelt their metals to the highest environmental standards, to cause the least impact on the environment. They do not deal with newly mined metals, as these metals cause much greater destruction to the environment. There is no visible difference between recycled metals and newly-mined metals.
